SASKATOON – Police and firefighters helped rescue a woman off a roof following a domestic disturbance.

Just before 2 p.m. on May 9, Saskatoon police officers were called to a residence in the 700 block of Weldon Avenue for a report of a domestic disturbance involving an injured woman. The woman was reported to have exited the residence through a window and onto the roof where she was able to gain the attention of a passerby for help.

Officers arrived on scene and established a perimeter around the home while firefighters provided a ladder to get the injured woman down from the roof. She was then treated by paramedics.

Through investigation, officers learned that a possibly armed male suspect may still be in the home and members of the Tactical Support Unit, Canine Unit, and Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene to assist Patrol. Following several attempts to contact anyone inside and order them out of the residence, police made entry and found the residence to be empty.

Traffic restrictions that had been in place for the duration of the incident have since been removed. Members of the public are thanked for their accommodation of the closures.

Police are continuing to investigate.
